From 21 to 23 April 2026, Deucalion welcomed the EasyBuild community to Guimarães for the 11th EasyBuild User Meeting.

Over three days, experienced users, developers and maintainers came together to exchange knowledge, share technical developments and explore advanced use cases involving EasyBuild and related open-source tools.

Hosted at the University of Minho‘s Azurém Campus, the event offered both on-site and online participation, enabling members of the international EasyBuild community to join the meeting and contribute to the exchange of expertise.

The 2026 edition of UMinho Open Doors (UPA) took place from 5 to 7 March at the Azurém Campus in Guimarães. The initiative presented the University’s educational offering through an exhibition of all UMinho Schools and Institutes. Participants could also visit the facilities and discover the University’s resources through guided tours, workshops, lectures and other activities.

UPA provided an opportunity to learn more about the infrastructure and services available to the UMinho student community, both to support their studies and to develop cross-disciplinary skills, essential for the integration of future professionals into the labour market.

All activities were free of charge, subject to registration and limited availability. Individual and group registrations were open to 9th-grade and secondary school students, teachers, vocational counsellors, parents and guardians.

From 2 to 6 February 2026, INESC TEC welcomed high school students for the second edition of its Open Week, held under the theme “Discovering the Wonderful World of Science and Engineering”.

Throughout the week, students took part in 11 activities covering areas such as Power and Energy, Marine, Industrial and Agricultural Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Communications. Guided by INESC TEC researchers, participants explored the laboratories and gained hands-on experience of how science and engineering are being used to address real-world challenges.

As part of the programme, the students from Braga and the surrounding region also had the opportunity to visit Deucalion, Portugal’s supercomputer. During the visit, they joined practical experiences on supercomputing and artificial intelligence.

On 26 September 2025, from 2.00 p.m. until midnight, Forum Braga came alive with experiments, performances and conversations as the European Researchers’ Night (ERN) returned to the city.

Created by the European Commission in 2005, the European Researchers’ Night brings science closer to the public by highlighting its relevance to daily life and inspiring new generations of innovators. The programme offered a varied and hands-on journey through the worlds of physics, chemistry, biology and beyond.

For one afternoon and evening, science stepped out of the laboratory and came into the city, showing that discovery is a shared experience open to everyone.

The first edition of EuroHPC User Day brought together users of EuroHPC systems to exchange knowledge, share experiences and explore the opportunities offered by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.

Held in Brussels on 11 December 2023, the EuroHPC User Day featured parallel sessions on a range of topics. The programme allowed participants to deepen their understanding of EuroHPC resources, services and support. Users were also invited to present their projects and share their experiences of working with EuroHPC systems.

Deucalion also contributed to the event with a presentation dedicated to the supercomputer.
