Deucalion welcomed 70 high-school students to explore the world of supercomputing and advanced computational infrastructure, as part of Universidade do Minho Open Day (UPA), held on 5, 6 and 7 March at the University of Minho’s Azurém campus in Guimarães.
Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to learn more about what supercomputing is, how infrastructures such as Deucalion are used, and why access to powerful computing resources is increasingly important for tackling complex scientific and societal challenges. The initiative also offered a valuable opportunity to introduce younger audiences to the real-world impact of high-performance computing (HPC) in research across a wide range of fields.
By taking part in UPA, Deucalion helps bring science and technology closer to students, inspiring them to explore emerging fields that may shape their future academic and professional paths.
UPA – UMinho Open Day brings together the educational offer of the University of Minho’s schools and institutes through interactive stands, experimental activities, workshops, talks and campus visits.
