The Jornadas FCCN once again brought together the Portuguese academic and scientific community, from 5 to 7 May, to address the infrastructures and digital services that support research and higher education. In its 17th edition, held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, Deucalion was once again represented alongside experts from a wide range of fields, including connectivity, computing and cybersecurity.
As part of the event, the Deucalion team delivered a session dedicated to European supercomputing. In the presentation “Deucalion & MareNostrum 5 Demo: European Supercomputing at the Forefront”, Alícia Oliveira and Bernardo Malaca showcased the capabilities of two of the leading infrastructures in the European supercomputing ecosystem. The session illustrated how these resources can be used to address highly complex scientific and technological challenges.
Deucalion’s participation in the Jornadas FCCN provided an important opportunity to bring supercomputing closer to Portugal’s research community. Over the three days, participants had the chance to learn more about the advanced computing resources available in Portugal and the country’s role in the development of European high-performance computing.
