Deucalion DemoLab in the spotlight at EuroHPC User Days 2026 in Dublin

16/10/2026

Deucalion took part in EuroHPC User Days 2026, held in Dublin from 22 to 24 September, with a DemoLab session dedicated to the European supercomputers.

Bernardo Malaca, from the Deucalion support team, and Alícia Oliveira, Machine Learning Engineer at Deucalion and INESC TEC, led the session, which showed how Open OnDemand, a web interface for accessing HPC resources, lets users access supercomputing directly from a browser.

The live demonstrations, run on Deucalion, included AlphaFold 3 protein predictions with VMD; AI-based weather forecasting with AIFS and VAPOR; and AMALIA, the Portuguese LLM, running on vLLM and llama.cpp.

The session offered a practical look at how users can interact with Deucalion’s HPC resources and explore a range of scientific and AI workloads.

Participating in the EuroHPC User Days was also a great opportunity for the team to engage with the European HPC community and strengthen Deucalion’s role in Europe’s advanced computing ecosystem.

The Deucalion is managed by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) / Agency for Research and Innovation (AI²), through the FCCN digital services unit, with operational support from the National Center for Advanced Computing (CNCA).
